Desde 1994 Don Rayment e trombonista baixo na Mississauga Philharmonic Orchestra em Mississauga, Canada. No passado se apresentou em orquestras da grande Toronto tais como Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec, Windsor Symphony, Thunder Bay Symphony, Niagara Symphony e Orchestra London. Tem se apresentado tambem em varias bandas dentre elas a Toronto Wind Orchestra, a Jazz Mechanics Big Band e a BrassRoots e nas bandas de baixo Brass Roots, a Slide Rule e Intrada Brass. Alem disso, tem se apresentado em varios concertos tais como Carmen e o Video Games Live em Toronto. Atualmente Don e um musico ativo e professor de musica particular em Toronto, no Canada. Don comecou a tocar trombone aos 10 anos de idade na escola e se tornou membro da Salvation Army no Canada, quando tocou com diferentes bandas da entidade e participou de varios workshops. Em 1984 tocou em concertos e fez turnes com a banda Canadian Staff Band. Iniciou seus estudos em musica na Humber College em Toronto, foi para a University of Toronto onde estudou com Frank Harmantas e, posteriormente, para o Royal Conservatory of Music onde estudou com Murray Crewe. Seguiu entao seus estudos na Domain Forget International Music Academy em Quebec, onde estudou com membros da Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec e teve aulas com o legendario trombonista e professor de musica Frank Crisafulli. Neste periodo tambem viajou para Montreal e EUA para estudar com outros proeminentes trombonistas das sinfonicas Chicago Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony e Montreal Symphony. A maior parte da agenda de Don e ocupada trabalhando junto a jovens trombonistas e alunos de intrumentos de sopro. Nos ultimos 20 anos ele tem lecionado em varios seminarios de trombone, workshops, master classes, clinicas e aulas particulares, alem de ser juiza em varios Festivais de Musica no Canada. Don tambem mantem constante contato com escolas e professores de musica da grande Toronto lecionando workshops para difundir o interesse pela musica e o uso do trombone, alem de encorajar a participacao dos alunos em bandas de musica. Desde 2007 dirige o Peel Brass Summer Camping, um seminario de 5 dias intensivos de trombone no verao canadense que tem despertado cada vez mais o interesse de novos alunos a cada ano. Atualmente Don se prepara para fazer uma turne em algumas principais cidades do Brasil onde pretende lecionar master classes, workshops e aulas particulares em dezembro de 2010. Don Rayment e artista and clinicista exclusivo da Edwards Trombones e usa as pecas de boca da Griego Mouthpieces. Atualmente se apresenta com o trombone baixo B454(V). |

Don Rayment has been bass trombonist of the Mississauga Philharmonic Orchestra since 1994. In the past has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec, the Windsor Symphony, the Thunder Bay Symphony, the Niagara Symphony and Orchestra London. Currently, he maintains a busy free-lance schedule in and around the Greater Toronto Area and has performed with many local ensembles including the Toronto Wind Orchestra, the Jazz Mechanics Big Band, BrassRoots, the trombone ensemble Slide Rule and Intrada Brass as well as touring shows including Carmen and Video Games Live. Don first began playing the trombone in the Salvation Army where he played in bands, participated in camps and in 1984 performed engagements and toured with the Canadian Staff Band. Beginning his formal studies in music at Toronto’s Humber College, he continued studies at the University of Toronto with Frank Harmantas, the Royal Conservatory of Music with Murray Crewe and the Domain Forget International Music Academy in Quebec where he studied with members of the Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec as well as the first of many lessons with the legendary trombonist and teacher Frank Crisafulli. During this time he also travelled for private studies with other prominent trombonists from the Chicago, Pittsburgh and Montreal Symphonies. A large part of Don’s schedule is spent working with young trombone and brass students. Over the past 20 years he has been a faculty member at numerous camps, is very active giving workshops, master-classes, clinics, teaching private lessons and has adjudicated at Musicfest. He is very active in the Greater Toronto Area working with schools and music teachers to promote brass playing and encourage participation in music and band classes and 2007 he started a 5 day summer trombone camp which has since grown into the Peel Brass Summer Music Academy. Don continues to perform and teach in the Toronto area and is busy performing workshops, giving private lessons, preparing for summer camps and will be touring and performing in Brasil in December 2010. Don Rayment is an Edwards Artist/Clinician and plays exclusively on Edwards Trombones and Griego Mouthpieces. He currently performs on a B454(V) model Bass Trombone. |
