Working with students and young musicians has always been a great pleasure for Don. Over the past
20 years, he has enjoyed teaching at camps, giving workshops, masterclasses, visiting schools to
work with young brass players and teaching private lessons.

Once, in a private lesson with respected teacher and trombonist Frank Crisafulli he was told that “You
can’t consider teaching......you must teach! You must pass on the love of music and the knowledge
that you have too younger musicians” ........words that he has never forgotten.

“Working with young brass players is always a pleasure for me” Don says, “I feel very happy,
especially in private lessons when a student comes with a problem, we work on that problem, solve
the problem and the student leaves happier than when they came.”

In a typical session Don will perform, talk to students about basics such as: breathing, articulation,
posture and technique, tuning, tone production and range building. He will also take time to talk with
the students about being a professional musician and a the skills needed to succeed in the music
industry as well as take time to answer questions. If you chose to include an afternoon session,
selected students will be asked to perform a short solo or etude in a clinic setting followed by
everyone performing in a large ensemble.

If you would like Don to visit your school or ensemble, let us know and we would be happy to arrange
a workshop specifically designed to help your young brass players.
